WHAT IS HCG? For many of you who have tried this program before, you may be wondering why we didn’t come up with these changes sooner! Research takes time and we wanted to be absolutely certain that the advice and suggestions we pro-vide actually work! After 2 years of trial and error I am happy to bring this improved version of the hCG diet to you. I hope you will find it as rewarding as I have. Enjoy! Our new product has been formulated to provide significant nutritional support for those participating in the hCG program. While many people have had success using our previous product, we believe Weight-Wise™ is a more synergistically complete supplement. We have included support for the endocrine system and for the detoxification processes of the body. Our goal is to provide a nutritionally sound weight-loss program whereby people not only lose weight but also move towards optimum health. Change is always difficult, but we are confident that this change is for the better. It is our desire to see people sustain their weight-loss and implement the lifestyle changes needed to maximize their efforts. It is a hormone that is produced in large quantities in pregnancy to protect the nutritional health of the growing baby, but in the form of a homeopathic supplement it is used to rid the body of the excess fat deposits. This application makes it suitable for men and women alike. hCG acts as a natural appetite suppressant while assisting the body to burn excess fat fast. With the introduction of hCG, thousands of extra calories begin to flood the system from the excess fat being metabolized. These calories provide you with the daily fuel (energy) you need, making it easier to stick to than a traditional diet that simply restricts calories. Dr. Simeons' research in the 1950's resulted in the hCG diet that we have today. He discovered the different types of fat in the body and how they are used and stored. Fat cells not only produce chemicals and hormones but they also send out signals that affect everything from our brain, liver, muscles and immune system to our mood and ability to reproduce. The two main fats in the body are Subcutaneous Fat and Visceral Fat. Subcutaneous Fat - This is the fat that you can feel. It appears all over the body on the stomach, hips, buttocks, arms, legs and thighs. It is essential for proper body functioning and serves as insulation for the body. It serves as cush-ioning for the body and is the energy storehouse. The lumpy, bumpy fat, cellulite is made up of excess subcutaneous fat. Visceral Fat - This fat is located deep within the body and is found in the torso. It hides in the nooks and crannies of the abdomen and creates an abundance of fatty tissue covering the organs. The “pot-belly” or “beer-belly” are made up of this type of excess fat. Another name for visceral fat is adipose fat. While some visceral fat is healthy and needed to protect the vital organs, too much fat is linked to heart disease, hypertension, diabetes and stroke. Excess Fat can be viewed as "famine fat". It is stored by the body for emer-gency famine. Yo-yo dieting contributes to the storage of this type of fat be-cause the body begins to question the availability of fuel (food). When calories are restricted, the body stores all the fat it can, to save up for the lean times! Dr. A.T.W. Simeons' research produced a plan that results in an average weight loss of .5 to 2 lbs a day of excess fat when accompanied by a VLCD (very low calorie diet). His plan is based on hormone injections. It has been our experience with our homeopathic supplement, that women lose an average of 0.2 – 0.6 lbs per day and men lose about 1.0 lbs per day. A diet that merely reduces calories will not produce the best results for those indi-viduals with an abundance of visceral fat stores, because their bodies will begin by burning the wrong kind of fat. When calories are reduced, the normal or sub-cutaneous reserves of fat are used up first. As a result, some people may look gaunt and drawn. hCG works to release the excess visceral fat stores and make them available to be used as fuel. By following the protocol precisely, the body will "burn" the excess fat, while preserving muscle and subcutaneous fat. RE-SETTING THE HYPOTHALAMUS The hCG diet is an amazing tool but unless a person is committed to following all phases of the program, disappointments will occur. The primary focus of this weight-loss program is the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is located just above the brain stem. It is a supervising center in the brain that links the body's two con-trol systems, the nervous system and the endocrine system. Its primary function is to maintain homeostasis in the body. It governs the automatic (sub-conscious) functions of the body such as: body temperature, appetite and food intake, thirst, blood pressure, heartbeat, gastric reflexes, maternal behavior, fluid balance, sleep cycles, immune responses and everything to do with the concept of satisfaction, creativity and pleasure. It controls carbohydrate and fat metabolism. The hypothalamus is like the rudder on a ship. Tiny changes and adjustments continuously keep us on the right course every day. When the hypothalamus is functioning correctly it steers us towards good nutritional food and promotes good appetite and effective metabolism. It establishes a “set-point” for the body to maintain weight. We “crave” fresh fruit rather than ice cream. Empty, non-nutritious food generally does not have the same pull on us when everything is working properly. We all know someone that can have just one bite of dessert and be satisfied. They push their plate away and are finished. When our hypothalamus isn’t working properly we want to eat our dessert and everyone else’s as well! A normally functioning hypothalamus listens to your body’s signals and stops when it is satisfied. The hormone that is responsible for this signal is leptin. The optimal function of the hypothalamus can be hindered by our dietary choices, pharmaceuticals and chemical influences. When the hypothalamus is not functioning properly it is as if we are “off course.” The body's hunger becomes more and more intense, more food is craved and eaten, more fat and sugar are consumed and stored. Now, the body's new weight or "set-point" has risen on the scale to a new high and isn't coming down. Sound familiar? Using ideas from Dr. Simeons’ plan, it is now possible to lower the body's "set-point" and “retrain” the hypothalamus to make the necessary adjustments to keep it there. Leptin Leptin is the hormone that signals the hypothalamus to stop storing and start burning fat. There is a delicate balance between the hypothalamus and the amount of leptin in the body and a normally functioning hypothalamus would understand leptin's signals and stop storing extra fat. Too much leptin in the body blocks the signals and triggers the body to store more fat creating more leptin and continuing the cycle. This is called “Leptin Resistance.” The more important part of this equation is that leptin is produced by the excess visceral (adipose) fat! It is clear why it is so crucial to rid the body of excess visceral (adipose) fat. Once the pounds of fat begin to reduce, the amount of leptin can begin to return to normal levels. This will start the process of healing the broken system of communication between the fat stores and the hypothalamus. When the communication is restored, the hypothalamus will once again prompt the body to decrease food intake through appetite and increase energy output to burn up any extra calories eaten. It is for this reason that most weight reduction programs fail their participants. If the body doesn't get rid of the adipose fat, the high levels of leptin in the body will keep the hypothalamus confused. In its confusion, the message is to continue to store fat and keep the appetite elevated. |
